How Did Your NaNo Go?

I had every intention of participating in NaNoWriMo again this year. I finished last year, but this year…

I only did a little over 7000 words. I did plan out my next book to chapter 6. Even though I didn’t hit 50,000 this year, I still think even participating and being in the planning stages is pretty good.

I didn’t have time to write last month because work pretty much took over my life. In fact, last week I worked every day and this week may be no exception.

So, how did your NaNo go? Did you hit the 50K?

I did reach 50k, just. My first try and it was a great experience to try writing that amount consistently. Admittedly I was helped by having limited other commitments. How did you find the editing process after ‘winning’ last year?

Actually, last year I was rewriting. 🙂 The WIP I started was actually way back in NaNo 2010. I actually got a late start–not until the second week–but finished in February. Then I started the arduous task of rewriting and basically threw out most of what I’d written and started from scratch, so by the time NaNo 2011 rolled around, I was about 70,00 words in. I added about 70,000 more, edited again, finished in April, edited some more, finished yet again, and am getting ready to edit again! It seems to be a never-ending process, but at least this time I did get some really good feedback from an editor at a major publishing house, so I am taking his advice with this round of editing.
