Author Bio

I am a single parent to three kids and live in Smalltown, USA, along with two cats–Frankie and Leo.   I work as a medical transcriptionist for a large psych hospital and write when I can.  My interests are varied–everything from shopping to reading to crafts.   My kids and I love going to the movies. Our all-time fav movie so far is Avatar.  I think we went and watched that about four times, and then we bought the movie when it came out!  My youngest calls them blue vampires.

I like to relax with a glass of wine and a good book.  I’ve always been a voracious reader.  It wasn’t until about six years ago that I thought about writing a book, but it was just an idea that intermittently flitted through my mind.  Then, about five years ago I started thinking more about it, but really had no idea of what to write about.  During one of my daydreaming sessions (which I do a lot of, by the way), I had an epiphany.   I could write about my daydreams!  Holy shit!  I had tons of ideas to write about now!  I did some research on how to write (Kim Harrison’s blog is great for this), made an outline, and started writing.  The base plot and backstory have stayed the same, but the rest of it has changed every now and then as I write.

My fav books are the ones where you can totally immerse yourself into their worlds and become the characters.  That’s what I hope to achieve with my book.  I want people to fantasize and become totally addicted and obsessive about my world and the characters involved.

Good luck with your book. I hope you are finding time to write daily. Sounds like that might be one of your biggest challenges.

Hi Tonya, I’m doing a Guest Post Week next week and I’d love for you to be a part of it! All it is, I’ll ask you 3 questions about your writing – all you have to do is contribute 3 elaborate answers and maybe a pic of yourself? It’s just my way to get to know the bloggers I enjoy reading :). Anyway, let me know as my first guest post is going up on Saturday 🙂

Your blog is very interesting and nicely presented. I like the links you have (I’m still working on adding mine); I think many of them will be the same (for instance, RWA and Writer’s Beware). Good luck with your book!

It is so nice to meet you. In my about page it talks about me as a single mom when my ex walked out on us. I know you are a strong person as I was working three jobs.

Being a single parent is the hardest job in the world. So sorry to hear about your ex walking out. It certainly is a change of life when a marriage unexpectedly ends. Luckily my ex feels very guilty about how things ended and so I was able to keep everything and he has been more than fair with support. I wish you luck in all you do. 🙂
