My Fav Authors

Some of my favorite authors are Kim Harrison, Richelle Mead, Nicole Peeler, Nora Robers (J.D. Robb), Sherrilyn Kenyon, Laurell K. Hamilton, and Diana Rowland.  There are more, but these are the main ones.  I like how they have strong female leads who are able to overcome odds and, usually, are a bit (or in Eve Dallas’s case really) snarky.

Kim’s books are easy to read and each book seamlessly leads into the next, rather than being confusing and missing info or going against something that happened before or just not making any sense at all.  I’ve only read her Hollows series but fell in love with them from the first book.  I especially love some of the terms she uses, like “egotestical” (I know some guys like that) or “uncommon stupidity,” (yeah, I know a few people with that too).  I’m also in love with the murdering drug lord Trent and the mischievous demon Algaliarept.

Richelle has really hot sex scenes in her adult series (Georgina Kincaid series, Dark Swan series) rather than the “here we go again” rut that some authors get into.  Plus, her books are fun to read.  Her YA series, Vampire Academy, is also really good, which I’m in love with Dimitri.

Nicole Peeler just started with her Jane True series.  I love how snarky Jane is!  That, and I love how Nicole manages to describe everyday things into sex objects (the oven, for example).

I love Nora’s In Death series (actually,  I’m in love with Roarke.  Why can’t I find a guy like him?)  Eve is snarky and downright bitchy sometimes, and her thought process can  be quite hilarious.

Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Dark Hunter books are sexy reads.  The male characters are super-hunks….probably becauase they’re all gods.  Oh, and I’m in love with Acheron.  If only he was a real person.

Diana’s urban fantasy/paranormal Kara Gillian series is well-thought out in both the paranormal features and the police procedural as well, seeing as how she used to be a detective.  I’m also in love with Rhyzkahl.

And finally, Laurell’s Anita Blake series is like paranormal horror.  I like how Anita’s main squeeze is a vampire when she’s a vampire killer/hunter.  Oh, did I mention that I’m also in love with Jean Claude?  And I would also love to have two bodyguards named Wicked and Truth.

Did you notice any recurring theme here?  I’m a book character whore.  I fantasize about nonexistant people….which, hopefully, when I get my book published people will fantasize about my characters as well.

Thanks for checking out my website. Given your list of writers you like, you might want to check out some of the work of Patricia Briggs. Her Mercy Thompson series starts with Moon Called. I would recommend you give it a try.

I read her first in the series and liked it very much. It was recommended to me by some authors when I was at Phoenix ComicCon last year. What are the other books in the series?

I know Patricia and Kim Harrison tour together sometimes. Have you read Kim’s Hollows series? Book 10 recently came out and she’s working on having 13 books.
