Enter To Win Before Time Runs Out!

The Massive Summer Giveaway will be coming to an end soon, so enter now while you can! Everyone is a winner, and apparently there’s quite a haul even for those who don’t win the grand prizes.

Also, an update on the status with my vendor. The first item up for sale will be a small purse, probably a 4×6 size. She’s making three different designs, and those who subscribe to my email list will be able to vote for the winning design and enter to win a purse! How cool is that? I’m so excited. I can’t wait to see the finished product. Email me at tonyakerrigannewsletter (at) gmail (dot) com and I’ll add you to my newsletter list.

Ryk Xander | A Character Profile

Ryk (pronounced Rake) Xander…mmmm…Ryk….He’s all kinds of yummy. He’s the fantasy that many women (and maybe even some men) have. He’s the seductive, swoon-worthy hero you can’t help but fall in love with. His name was chosen with care: Ryk means powerful ruler, while Xander means defender of mankind. Yes, he is definitely a powerful defender!

Here’s Tora’s description of Ryk:

piercing eyes that seemed to burn through me and a face sculpted by angels on a very good day of high cheekbones, a strong jawline, straight nose, and full sensuous lips I was sure could make a woman scream.

...his eyes were a deep sapphire blue ringed by long, thick, black lashes. Mmm, bedroom eyes.

He wore a tailored, silk suit that probably cost more than what I made in a year.

He’s also an enigmatic businessman who’s hard to figure out. What is he, exactly? How long has he been around? What’s up with his mood swings?

He cares for Tora, though she does exasperate him at times. He might even love her, but love is an emotion he’s not quite ready to feel yet. Rather, he’s happy to stay in the background, there for her when she needs him, which seems to be often.

We all need a rock like Ryk at times.

With a murderous beast on her heels and a conniving daemon who wants to use her for his own means, Tora Hayden’s main objective is to keep herself and those she cares about alive.

After meeting an enigmatic businessman who possibly suffers from florid psychosis, Tora is propelled into the world of the supernatural. She’s forced to believe the mythical world exists when she’s brutally attacked by a savage fiend intent on annihilating her family line for reasons unbeknownst to her. With the assistance of the psychotic businessman, along with a gorgeous manwhore whom Tora swore to never date but ends up doing just that, she discovers her seventy-years-dead great-grandmother was actually an otherworldly warrioress.

In an effort to beat the murderous beast at its own game, Tora chooses to take on her deceased great-grandmother’s powers to gain immortality and supernatural strength.

During the transfer of powers, something goes wrong: she unwittingly releases a daemon who’s been cursed to his own realm for enslaving the fiend and working towards enslaving all factions. Now, she not only has a murderous beast on her heels but a conniving daemon who’s loose and wants to use her for his own means.

NaNoWriMo and a Paperback!

nanowrimo

I’m doing NaNoWriMo this year. It’s been a few years since I’ve participated. I’m working on book 2 in the Blood Promise series, the working title being Blood Ties. I’m t_kerrigan if you want to friend me! I’m at 9505 words so far, so I’m making progress. I don’t know that I’ll get the first draft finished in a month, but at least I’ll get a big portion of it done. Since I don’t have any plans this weekend, that gives me time to write…and write…and write…

Also, Blood Promise is now available in paperback! Finally. Whew. Right now, it’s available at Amazon. You can also get the ebook at Amazon, B&N, iTunes, Kobo, Scribd, 24 Symbols, and Inkterra and Thalia.

Happy reading…and writing!

How Did That Get In There?

I ordered a second proof copy of Blood Promise, and I’m noticing extra words here and there that mysteriously got inserted into the book that weren’t there before, words that mess up the sentence. I hate it when I’m reading a book and suddenly there’s a word either missing or a random word inserted that doesn’t make any sense, and now I’m finding it in my book! Grrr….

I have a feeling it’s my Word program. For some strange reason, sometimes the cursor jumps around the page, typing or deleting where I didn’t want it to, so I’m guessing that’s what happened here.

So now, I’m going through with a fine-tooth comb, making sure it’s perfect before I release the paperback and fix the corrections in the ebook.

One of the things in my list is from Thesaurus.com for “perturbed.” Seeing as how Tora is perturbed quite a bit, I guess I wanted different ways of expressing that.

Words of Life By Thing 4

The other day me and Thing 4 were at the store because she was having a candy attack. She had a limited amount of money to spend and perused the candy aisle. After a bit, she became discouraged because, let’s face it, high-quality candy and chocolate is expensive. She threw her hands in the air in exasperation and said, “Why is candy so expensive? You’re basically paying to get cavities!”

How right you are, Thing 4. How right you are.
